Picked up a nice clean .44 rimfire 1864 Hammond bulldog this afternoon, this is a heavy frame single shot man stopper. Would anyone know of a source for .44 rimfire long or short reloadable cartridges that use an acorn blank? Or at least have cartridge specs and I’ll turn my own. The info I found says they handle both short and long, pistol and rifle cartridges.
The Hammond Bulldog was manufactured between 1865 and 1868 before they folded. Only 7400 were produced.

If this is what you have you can modify 44 Rem mag brass to fit. Case diameter needs a slight reduction. Hole needs to be drilled off to one side and a counter sink so the rim of a blank sits flush. I am using 445 round balls. Case full of 3 f with a wad over top. I plan on ordering the proper bullet but haven’t yet.

That’s exactly what I have. Will you be up to blue mountain this year? I’ll have it along to show around.

I should be there. Everyone from Truro club has seen mine. Once you learn how to hold it they are accurate, tried mine out to 25. I haven’t found where to buy any ready made cases. I do have a few rimfire rounds in different lengths which I plan to keep unfired. Cases are a pain to make due to the hole being so close to the side wall. I ruined a few.

Bring a few along and I’ll measure them up and make some notes. I’ll have to modify some and try them out.

Problem with 41 mag is it’s to small. Plank has to fit next to the side wall which puts it too far in for the firing pin to hit the primer. Tried it firing pin doesn’t even mark the primer. 44 mag cases are reduced in a 41 sizer after being drilled for the blank
