anone have any tried and tested loads worked out that are nice and soft for 44 Russian? in a top break smith

Just looking at some of my notes loading 44 Russian for my Reichsrevolvers. They're probably more sturdy than a S&W but I'm not looking to roll a polar bear with them either.

200gr rnfp with 4.5gr of Unique gave about 800 fps and didn't feel excessive. I tried as much as 6gr but it was more than I was comfortable with.
Same load with the 240gr wasn't fun to shoot in the 1883 but not terrible in the bigger 1879.

200gr rnfp with 3.5gr of Trailboss gives about 650fps and is what I use most often.

For the antiques I always do and suggest 3.2 Bullseye and a 200 grain semi-wadcutter, ........decent accuracy and low pressure, .....safe in anything!

Im thinking 3.5-3.6 grains of RedDot (or Promo) for a 240 grain bullet.
