So I searched old threads on here and took notes of loads .
Searched some of my old book and in Manual of Cartridge Conversions they QUOTE frank Barnes with 3.6 g Bullseye with 246 g at 700fps.
This load kind of goes with a guy on here recommended except his load was 3.2g Bullseye with 200g at 650 fps.

Well I have an original frank Barnes cartridges of the world loading book and it's an old book. Pages turned yellow and none of the powders still made except Bullseye but he lists 6g with 246g at 770fps. This seems extremely hot doesn’t it?
He also lists 5.7 g with 250g. I'm guessing this is way to hot for old black powder Era guns.

Do any of you have 44 Russian low black powder pressure loads but with modern smokeless powder that can be bought?
By searching this forum I came up with 3.8g 231. I suspect this won't work well at such low pressure.

Also found titegroup 3.5g but he didn't say with which bullet.

Autocomp is another powder that is available but I have no data.

Reason for smokeless is to shoot at indoor range and yes with cast bullets.

Thanks

If you want to buy ammo that’s lightly loaded. Talk to rusty wood trading co out of mission BC.

I’m not a reloader so can’t help you there.

Happy shooting!

I'm thinking he just loads black powder now.
Loaded ammo is so expensive. Unless someone is shooting a 9mm or 223 I don't know why everyone isn't reloading ,casting, etc

The 4th edition of the Lyman cast bullet handbook has loadings for 5 different cast bullets for 44 Russian
Make sure you look at the pistol section of the book
