444 Marlin, 450 Marlin, 45/70, for Moose

Hey guys,

I was thinking of buying a 30-30 Lever-action Marlin rifle. Then I saw these calibers that, according to Marlin's website, could be used for moose hunting.

I just wanted to know if any of them is worth using for moose and how they compare to say... 30-06 or something.

Are the ammo easy to get ?

Also, if anyone owns one of these guns, any feedback would be appreciated.

A large slug at 100 yards beats a small slug at 200. Get close and any moose would be real dead real quick.

compared to the 30-30, the 444, 45/70, 450 marlin are weak. You just cannot beat the 30-30's ballistics for shooting game as large as moose.

Tod has hit the nail on the head. The .30-.30 is a real moose slayer out to 500 yards.
