.444 Marlin draws 1st blood on bull elk.

Congratulations, Yvan, and good job with the pictures as well as the 444!

What load were you using, and what's next on your agenda? :D

Ted

PS: Did you get any pictures of the ponies packing out the meat?

Thanks guys, I'm glad that you all like the pics. :D

Dave, I'm going to hang on tight to those binocs, after all they're expensive ($150.00 H2O's)

Buzz, you must be hunting 6x6 in 406 then. One of my two partners took one last saturday. ...good luck, they're there.

Ted, I just got a few pictures when we were still packing up, here they are. The weather was turning very nasty on us on the way out. My next plan is to help my partner who you see in the picture with his elk. I'll be tagging along for the ride, company and packing out. The load: 265gr. Hornady FP, 43gr IMR4198, CCI 200.

Here's Flash getting final adjustments to his pack. He's got the hinds.

Congrats on your Elk and thanks for the great pic's. Looks like a great hunt and a good time was had by all.
Good load as well. I've used virtually the same on a couple of Moose and the Hornady 265gr FP has proven to be a great performer. Same components except I used 42grs of IMR 4198. I don't see the loads listed for it in the recent Hornady manuals but from a previous edition, 52grs of IMR 3031 has also worked well for me in my Marlin 444S.
Thanks again for the great pic's & info.:)Good work.
