.44mag

I'm wanting to find an accurate mid-power load for my new S&W 69 using 240 gr's I thought I'd try H110 as that's the only pistol powder a local shop had. While checking the books and loading sites I see H110 is recommended for near full house loads only with warnings not to reduce by much etc, etc. Kinda freaked me out to be honest. I do have a bit of 231 and Tite-Group I might be better off with. Any suggestions?

Titegroup is a good powder for low to medium velocity. H110 is good for upper-medium to the top. H110 isn't for only the highest velocities. At starting loads it's just upper-middle-class.

. Lil Gun as back-up.

I haven't tried that one yet. I have a lb for my 410 that may just get revectored...

I have tried H110 and 2400 and for some reason I like 2400 better. I don't really know why but I do. Fav load is (I think, look it up)19gr 2400 and a HDY 300 gr JHP.

I just found and purchased 5 lbs of Blue Dot, it would seem to be the best powder for my 10mm and while perusing my books I see it can be used in most everything I shoot, in handguns. I'm just set up to load 500 38 spl+P cases, I'm going to try Blue Dot in these with a low end 357 load and 158 gn jacketed bullets. I don't own a 38 spl so no chance of getting them in the wrong gun and all the cases are headstamped "+P". Saving my last 3 lbs of 296 for full house loads in my 44 and 357. Hoping the Blue Dot loads will cycle the action of my Coonan...........
Blue Dot would seem to be a decent alternative compromise powder for a lot of different cartridges, my books show loads for 45 ACP, 10mm, 357, 44 Spl and Mag, 45 LC, 38-40 and 44-40, also seems like it is usable in my 32-20 and 25-20 with cast lead if necessary.
Can lay my hands on a few lbs of PB, but know nothing about this powder..........seems to be a touch slower than Bullseye in my loading manuals, but very little data for it, anyone have experience using PB in pistol cartridges?

I'm just loading 240 cast for mine

I've been using 8 grains titegroup and at 15 yards it will tear one ragged hole from the 629

I'm saving the last of that for my 9mm and 45ACP though.

So now I've got some HS-6 and Longshot. No HS-6 data for the magnum, but there is for the special, so I'm going to extrapolate some. I just want a mid range load, rather than a hand mangler (also to keep the leading down). Longshot I just picked up and so far am just working with it in the .357 (plated bullets).

I've got Lil'Gun, but there was a post here last year that swore that lil'gun was the cause of excess forcing cone erosion in a few revolvers that the poster had encountered, so I've not tried it.

I save my H110 for the .30Carbine. My max tolerance is about 17grains of 2400. I'm not sure if H110 can be loaded to a similar level or not. I'd rather use the faster powders anyway for more comfort and greater economy.

23.3 grains of 110 over a 240 grain campro bullet cycles my desert eagle. The fireball and thump makes the other range guns go quiet and all heads turn to watch the first few shots.
