Looking to get back into reloading 4560 I have several pounds of 3031 and that’s what I used to use years ago but I cannot find my reloading data for the 300 grain lead bullet. Does anybody have data 300 grain bullet IMR 3031 powder. Data

Try 14% less 45-70 starting load for 300gr and 3031.

Not sure if you want trapdoor loads or modern lever loads but hodgdons probably lists both.

Imr3031 is a power that can be ran at like 50% case capacity so you can start almost as low as you want and work up. I use it in the 43 Mauser lots and all kinds of other calibers.

Between imr3031 and h4895 you can load almost any low intensity rifle cartridge (or even high intensity round but not to max velocity) or any of the biggest bores (I use it in 500 Jeffery and 460 weatherby)

From my poking around I assume you want BP pressures/ original load velocity

I've seen a few loads listed. It seems like 25gr with a filler will give 1250 fps,

45 grains should be around 1850fps (21,000 cup)

Personally I would try 32gr of imr 3031 with no filler and work up to 1400fps

I believe you will want to stay below 28kpsi with that rifle. (That's 45-70 trapdoor max loads pressure)

Where it's a shortened 45-70 case I would just use 45-70 trap door loads but take away 14% from the starting load and then load to 1400 fps using irm3031.

You should be able to get to 1800fps before youre near max pressure. You just need to start somewhere.
