Im wondering how common or scarce is 45/66 siamese mauser in original calibre 8x52R. I know that there is no ammo avaliable and dies are expensive. One company in Canada is selling factory brass , not cheap but nothing is cheap anymore.

Not very common but they are around. In the last 5 years:
I had one and sold it because I never got a chance to make any ammo for it. Saw and handled a really clean example at a Kamloops gun show this year. I think I have seen one or two at auctions.

Played with one friend has.
made ammo for it out of 762x54R brass. quite time consuming. brass needs to be shortened to 52mm and rims have to be reduced in diameter to fit the bolt head.
After that once brass is prepped seater die from x54R can be used to seat the 8mm bullet. I used boat tail bullet 218 gr that just spread the neck and sat flush with case shoulder. Flat base bullet will require more work to seat them.
42gr of imr4895 gives acceptable performance for this cartridge

Shot one for a few years and as stated brass is a tedious thing to fabricate. Just no easy way of doing it. Shot just fine and other than brass I had no complaints. Still have a bayonet for one.

Looks like im lucky to meet great people as i was able to get correct brass , dies and bayonet for this gun. So big thank you to people involved.
