.45-70 ammunition

For the price of 100 rounds of factory 45-70 you could probably get a complete basic reloading setup, and shoot cheaper forever!

+1. Don't forget being able to customize loads for your rifle, work up light plinking loads, use heavy cast bullets and so on. 45-70 screams out to be reloaded.

It would help if you mentioned what province you lived in because shipping it cost big money. I buy it for $34 for 20 at UFA in? Then I use the brass for reloading. I presently have 400 reloaded ready for long range shooting.

Who has the best price on decent factory .45-70 ammo? Anybody sell in 100 lots or bulk?
Unless you have oodles of spare cash I'm going to mimick others here and suggest you turn to handloading your own 45-70 ammo.
Chances are without the hobby of relaoding, you'll probably not be able to afford to shoot it enough, to become an experienced shooter.

my opinion only

Where you are matters.
"...sell in 100 lots or bulk..." You can order as much as you want of anything you want through your local gun shop. Be prepared to pay up front. However, if you're not reloading you'll have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo your rifle shoots best. Gets expensive. (Remington factory runs around $45 per 20 in Ontario.)
Reloading makes this go away as you'll be tailoring the ammo to your rifle.

Yup. I reload. In Alberta. I like the factory stuff for the brass, and the convieniance of having ammo ready to shoot. Plus most of my brass is starting to get old. The cheapest brass I can find is 1 buck a piece, so 2 bucks a pop for factory is a little more usefull. All that being said I would love to get my hands on some inexpensive bulk ammo.

The leverevolution stuff is fairly warm. A 325gr at ~200-300 fps more than the Winchester 300gr stuff.

I haven't shot anything with them myself but last fall a buddy put a couple messy ones through a black bear and there was blood everywhere. Seemed like they work pretty well.
