45-70 and Unique powder

I'm was hoping for some load data on 45-70 cast bullets using Unique powder. Checked both all three of my manuals and came up with zip.
To my understanding lots of people use Unique with great success. Apparently the Lyman 47th addition has all the data I'm looking for. And of coarse I have the 49th.
I have a 325 grain cast bullet that weights 340 grains with my alloy.
Any ideas on coal and starting powder point?

8-16gr or so works well. I don't go above that but you can figure that out. I like 405's at just under the speed of sound.

Very flexible powder in that cartridge. I load 405gr Lee bullets over 15gr unique for around 1400fps in my guide gun. Super accurate out to 100 and can plink all day for pennies a round.

I load mine w/ 10.0 grains pushing a 405 gas checked bullet from Bullet Barn for a nice 100 yd gallery round.

It's fun to shoot 405's at .22lr velocity. They have quiet the smack when they eventually get there.

I run 14 grains Unique with a 405 cast, chronographed velocity right in the 1150-1175 fps ballpark. Good for 100 yard plinking ( or short range deer round) all day long.

I prefer trail boss, nice light loads,13 grains or so fills the case, so no chance of a double charge.

I've always thought that if someone has even a pinch of common sense and an IQ at least as high as Forrest Gump, they shouldn't be throwing double charges all that often. I guess the potential is there, but if you can't throw 14-16 grains of Unique in a case, and visually confirm or whatever, I have a feeling life is gonna bite you no matter what.

What distance? Scoped or no?

I loaded up a few of these and popped them off at the range last week. Actually it was 15gr behind a 350gr Hornady Interlock RN. Felt like shooting a 22 after getting done load testing 48.5, 49 and 50gr of H322 under a 425gr HardCast.
Average 5 shot velocity was 1328fps with a spread of only 15fps. Really nice plinking load like everyone says. Accurate and Nice clean burn as well.

12 gr under a 420 cast is the most commonly used around my house, especially nice from the Handi-Rifle.

If you want the next best thing to a suppressor, try 4.5 gr of 700X under a 500 gr cast - start at 6 gr and work your way down until you hit 3.5-4.5 gr to ensure you don't stick a bullet in the bore...
