Anyone heard of spartan arms? apperantly they are going to be importing sxs double rifles with 1 configuration in 45/70 .all for under 1k. Dam I would like to have a double 45/70

Is it not just Remington's marketing of junk Baikal rifles? Baikal threatened us with this rifle once before but they had production problems, I think a Marlin would be a much better made and reliable rifle and it's made in N.A.

Yeah, the Spartan guns are just cheap Baikals. I'd rather tack weld a pair of Handi Rifles together and call it a double to be perfectly honest.

They (Baikal) are abouot 2-3 mt from being available here. I plan to try one when they come out. The new ones are expected to take more pressure. The one I handled in 30-06 was fine but not pretty, almost like a hunting rifle. Look at one & make your mind up for yourself. This is JMHO ofcourse. AJ

They may have changed but I still wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole.Had a Baikal double 12 ga. What a piece of work that was.

I handled one in 45/70 and didn't like the feel of it. Seemed poorly made, like a Rossi shotgun that I own, just felt like the machining was cheap, the materials were chintzy, etc. That was several years ago believe it or not (3-4) at the local gun store here in Yellowknife. There was a recent review on the spartans in a Gun magazine I bought recently, but of course I'm at work and cant think of which one. Anyhow, I'd go with a lever action as you can get 4-6 shots off quicker than reloading just once with a double. The way they regulate the barrels with a slave screw or something like that, made it hard for the writer to find a load that would group together. He only found one load (300 gr. Remington factory) that would come close to a good "double gun grouping". I sure wouldn't mind trying out the .30-06 for s**tsandgiggles, but there are too many other guns I want first.

Bringing a Baikal double to shoulder was more akward than than puberty. If they were free I still wouldn't take one. There's a reason good doubles cost what they do. If it sounds to good to be true, it is.
