Took my Marlin Guide Gun out for the first time,
I think i fell in love. Such a pleasure to shoot. I was extremely happy with the way it performed. the kick was hyped up too much and wasn't nearly as bad as i was expecting, although the leverevolution 325gr were a bit nasty shooting, nothing major. shot 3 boxes. arm is fine,

I don't agree with the iron sights much, I will probably put on a scope I have lying around. Now all i need is some bullets and the right powder and load up my own rounds. :)

Factory 45/70 is pretty anemic, but you can make up some handloads that'll thump ya pretty good.
+1 on the H322, though H335 is also fun as it makes for a pretty spectacular muzzle flash! :D

Factory loads are tame like a kitty kat... start hand loading and watch the fillings in your teeth start to come out.

I almost sold mine the other day to finance a .375 Ruger Alaskan but came to my senses at the last minute.

I have a peep sight on mine and really like it over the factory irons. A lot of people use ghost rings as well. I just don't see the point of a scope on a 200 yard rifle, but maybe that's just me.

Have fun!

If you want a fun all day shooting load try 15 grain's of Trailboss under 350-450 cast.
I just have to find a bucket now for a target so I can reclaim all that lead.
50 rds x 400 grain's = 20,000 grain's or almost 3 pound's of lead :D

H322, H4198, or reloder 7 will be the best performing powders, but H335 is the most spectacular and obnoxious load you can let loose at the range. it leaves quite a bit of unburned kernels in the bore, but the concussive force of the muzzle blast is enough to blow the toupee off the head of the guy 8 benches over and give everyone else a nose bleed! simply a rude and very intimidating load!

IMR 3031 @ 47 gr w/ 405 Remingtons get me 1650ish FPS out of my 1895CB. Very accurate with lots of thump. I haven't had much luck with IMR 4198 yet but I'm still working on it.

I just got a bunch of 420 gr gas checked hardcast bullets to play with so the jury is still out on the 4198.

Haven't found a decent load for the 300 - 350 gr bullets yet either. I think my CB prefers the big boy's,

Like 458lott I shoot 450 grain Bullet Barn hard casts from my SBL, propelled by 39.5 grains of H4198. No scope for me, just the factory ghost ring; very fast to aquire.
