If you're using it for defense I'd see if letting the hammer down and recocking ends with just a click and no bang. That's what I found with my 1895.
never heard that is it defective?
What bullet gain would you use for predetor defence? Because that's the only reason I bought this thing.
Got myself a 1895SBL for predator defence. Essentially I'm looking to stockpile a few rounds and want to know what is most versitile for bears, cats, wolf, hog... rabbid donkeys?
I make and shoot, 540 cast and 470 cast. with h322 they hit hard, and very accurate. now working up a load for the 400gr. rcbs mold.

I would get that looked at. Might be a cross-bolt safety issue... that brings up a question.
Is there a cross bolt safety removal kit? I've never had a lever with one and it seems to be a hinderece. Like a SxS auto safety.
I took my cross bolt safety out and put in a saddle ring
lol RJMy 1985 Remlin gets fed with 405gr Remington JSP on top of 44.5grs IMR4198.For speed and ballistics, it turns the 45/70 into a .450Marlin
