45/70 info

Definately crimp for heavy loads in a lever gun...it is best to use a bullet with the crimping groove in the right place to allow proper functioning in the lever gun some cast bullets have a better crimp groove then other bullets....in which case all you need is to roll crimp with seating die.....its easier to crimp in a separate step from bullet seating!
 
Cases for .45-70 should be trimmed to the same length also. Then you crimp as the last step after seating. The Lee Factory Crimp die is the 'bees knees'. ;)
It is the answer on all straight wall cases. I had Lee custom make one for my .458 Lott. They'll make any odd-ball, custom, wildcat etc...
