45-70 Plinking Bullet?

If you want a VERY light bullet and almost ZERO recoil I've used 50 cal muzzle loading balls, pushed through a .458 LEE Lube-sizer. The balls are generally purchased at about .490 diameter and can be lightly lubed, then pushed through the Lubrisizer. The ball now has a very short parallel section. This is then seated over a VERY small charge of shotgun powder. Easy to make and perform well out to 25 yards.

You can use a .457 lead ball without sizing, over 8 grains of Trail Boss for a great bush chicken load.

Shotshell canisters for 45 Long Colt filled with #9 shot fit in the .45-70 as well, and are good for clearing rats out of the barn.
Keep it in close, because the rifling really donuts the pattern beyond 10 feet.

Seriously on the 45 long colt shot shells? Quick search says no but I don’t have any first hand experience
