I have a Marlin made 1895 GS. Presently I'm loading Hornady 350gr FP with IMR 4895.
Shoots like - Well you see.....

What I'm looking for now is a premium bullet for grizzly out to 100yrds. Have several choices. Barns Buster 400gr, Barnes TSX 300gr, Woodleigh 405gr Flat Nose and a
Nosler Partition in 300gr.

Theres many views on cast - but I keep coming back to jacketed or solid.
Any experience with these?????

I know you stated that you have an affinity for jacketed, but I've settled on the RCBS 405-FN GC @ Round 1850 out of my 1895G and I honestly can't think of a thing in N America that I wouldn't shoot with it...
 
I cast also. I have only shot one moose with the 500gr RN Lee Gascheck bullets, at about 1900 fps with my Siamese Mauser. I know the bullet is too long for the marlin, so I would use a 450 in it. I too believe there is nothing in north America That would call for any better bullet in this cartridge. Once I compared my cast bullets to nosler bullets in a 300wm. Noslers went 11 inches into a block of firewood, cast lead bullets went 18 inches in, and still weighed 240 gr. even if a premium bullet would go 24 you can only kill stuff so dead.
 
Swift A frame is another to look at. However I put a massive hole in a black bear with the hornady 350 fn. The bullet almost cut down a 3" wide spruce tree behind the bear. That was with a 1750fps muzzle velocity

Take a look on randy garrett's website. A lot of interesting stuff on there about the 4570
 
Just checked out those A-Frames online. Kind of looks like a Partition, but with beefier copper jackets. Will have to check those out further tonight.

Someone on here was sellin em. $75ish/50 I think is what they were going for. Can't recall the name. I think prophet river sells northfork bullets as well. Have read great reviews on their cupped solids
 
I would go with brybenn suggestion and check into the garretts. I think it was Rodriguez who did an article in either handloader or Rifle on using a marlin 45/70 in Africa on Cape buffalo using what he called the pen bullets. His shot fully penetrated a mature bulls chest at 100 yards then struck an unseen cow standing behind the bull. They recovered the bullet on her off shoulder. Second shot fully penetrated through chest with the third shot penetrating from the hind quarter to the brisket. Even the PH was impressed
 
For myself I'd go with the TSXs if your gun likes them or else an A-frame or Partition. The A-frames are pretty much a bonded partition(as far as I recall thats the only major difference).

Your Rifle with the Hornady 350gr FP . I have the same gun and was looking to work up a load as well. What was your powered gr., primers and brass to get your results? Thanks for your time......
 
45-70 Starline Brass
350 grain Hornady Flat Point Interlock
CCI Benchrest primer
54.0 grains IMR 4895
NOTE: IMR website lists a starting charge of 57.5 @ 1891 fps.
This load lets you know it when you pull the trigger
