45 70 projectile bulge ????

I never noticed until now this is my 3 rd patch of reloads for my 45 70.
I sized, and flared the mouth of the casing. Primed and charged it.
I noticed after I seated the projectile it left a bit of a buldge all are around the brass casing where the bottom of the projectile sits from the inside of the casing.
Never noticed that before, thought the brass was suppose to be smooth and flush all the way up to the mouth opening.

As well after my third resizing about 7 out of 30 casing had kinks in it near the top of the casing where the bullet sits. Might of used to much loob this time?
Can anyone tell me if this normal for the projectile to be larger than the casing.
And why I would get kinks on a straight casing?
 
This is normal if you are full length sizing (which will shorten your case life). I generally pull back the deprimer and only size enough that the mouth barely holds the bullet. A factory crimp die does the rest.

The kinks are from not flaring enough. Remove the washer from the flaring die if you need to, but backing off your sizing die will accomplish the same thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by pull back the deprimer. How can I remove the primer if I don't resize the entire brass?

The kinks happened during resizeing, I flared after I resized.
 
Were you using Lee brand dies?
I nearby friend stopped using this brand for his Sharps in 45-70 because of a similar problem.
The finished loaded round had a few bulges about halfway up the case, like three little ridges, each one just above the other.
Not sure if this is the same issue as the OP.
 
There is some taper with the 45/70 so lube dents may be possible. Not sure what else the 'kinks' might be.

The bulge is normal in reloaded 45/70 cartridges as it is in many pistol cartridges as well.

You could mess around with your sizing die if you want to but it won't matter much to case life with this cartrige if you just keep on full length resizing.

The bulge looks a bit funny but is of no concern, it's just a visual reminder that you neck tension is good.
