45-70 Range Day

Sun was shining and wasn't too cold -4degC so I decided to hit the range. This was the first outing with the Rolling Block and the 4x brass scope combo, she scored a nice 3" group at 50 yards but the offset block for the rear mount will need be worked on. Also the first time for the Sharps with the vernier sight, got on the paper but needs more work. This is the second time I've had the Highwall out with the HiLux Malcolm 6x scope, 5 out of 5 on the 6" gong at 100 yards.

Very nice! That brass scope is classy.

The cheek piece risers are a smart and attractive idea too.

I'm a big fan of single shots as well! I have the same arsenal as you do. In fact, I bought a tang sight from you recently! Pedersoli Rolling Block in 45-70 Pedersoli Sharps in 45-70 Browning 1885 in 45-70 Ruger #1 in 45-70 an original Remington roller, re-barrelled with a Green Mountain barrel in 38-55, original Remmy roller in .43 Spanish and lastly, a couple of Sweedish Rollers in 8 X 58 RD. You sir, have very nice toys, for sure! I'm contemplating scoping the 38-55 as my 76 year old eyes are having trouble with the tang sights! I particularly like the cartridge caddy and the riser on the Hiwall. Did you make it yourself or store bought? I do leatherwork and I was trying to come up with a design to incorporate a riser on a cartridge caddy (stock wrap as some call these). Do you mind if I steal your idea?

Hi Mike, the riser on the Highwall is store bought (Amazon) just went back to buy a couple of more but they are no longer available. I'm willing to send you pics if you think you can replicate it.
