45/ 70 v 300 wsm recoil comparision

It depends what rifle you're shooting it out of. I had an extra lightweight rifle that would just about break my hand and crack my cheek bone. I sold it. I shoot heavier 45-70s today and love them.

I tried a few of my Sharps 540 grain loads out of an extralight 1886. Those extralights are a wonderful hunting gun but they will spike a man.

Ouch! followed by about 2 days of owww............way worse then any 300 magnum!!

I'll agree with that. I have a 300 WM and the 45-70 with hot loads will make you hurt shooting off the bench. The great thing about reloading for 45-70 is you can load it from Mild to Wild. I love it.
It depends on the rifle. A .45/70 Marlin Guide Gun, with 18" barrel, and 'cranked' loads, shot off the bench, will make you chip your teeth...

A .300WSM will not do that...
