I love my Winchester 1886 45-90 Short Rifle and the 24" Short Rifle in 45-70. I also have a Browning 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine that I really love.

Can get a ruger #1 in 45-70, it's got a lever of sorts lol. not a lever action but still a cool gun, single shot.

Saw a Winchester at whole sale sports in Saskatoon. Very nice gun, pricey though.

If you must have the best, look for an original Win 1886 ELW in 45-70....................the best.

I have a Rossi Rio Grande that I bought to replace a Marlin I sold to a friend, it feels about a pound lighter than the Marlin and so far I really like it although the quality will not compare with a Winchester.
