Any time you start a 300-500 grain slug downrange with enough force to blow holes in large game, you are going to be reminded that you just shot a rifle. A lot of guys use the 45-70 in the BPCR matches out to some pretty long ranges. Trajectory like a rainbow.

Just for fun, take a look at this DJ!
We have a lot of fun with big bullets WAAAY OUT there!

Optimum trajectory information :
 Optimum sight-in range (X) = 92 Yds.
with max. ordinate above LOS at range (M)= 56 Yds.
and max. point blank range (P)= 106 Yds.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Sight-in clicks, 1 click = 0.915 cm/100 yd. or 0.36 in/100 yd.
Height of sight above bore axis = 5.0 cm or 1.969 inch
Gun is zeroed-in at 200 yds,
 by sighting-in at level firing
