I'm trying to source a 45 cal barrel blank for a project I'm pondering at the time. (curious as to where to find one) I'm not tring to build a long range tack driver. Something like a lee-enfield or mauser conversion with a twist. I guess I could have a chamber cut if I were to find a .452 blank.

On a side note, would I be able to "manufacture" it shorter than 18.5" because it is a blank?

you can't but I think that people like Dlask/bits and pieces have manufacture liscences which allow them to do so ( i.e short dlask 870 barrels)

I can offer you 45cal blanks from Shilen or Mcgowen.

I can also offer you prefit/threaded and chambered barrels for the Savage and Rem 700 (w/purchase of barrel nut) as short as 16".

PM or email with your interest

Thanks,

Jerry

I built a 45acp with a Shilen .452" groove untapered barrel blank on a Mauser action.

The rifle weighs about 20 pounds.

The 230 gr FMJ bullets, when pushed with 45,000 psi, make a huge WHAP when they hit the plywood at 100m.

The bullet strike sound is so loud, it is very clear while wearing ear plugs and hearing protectors, and while others are shooting at the range.
