Looking for a source of 185 gr. FMJ bullets to reload with. Does any manufacturer make them and does anyone know where they can be purchased? (I'm kind of new to this)

Take a look at HORNADY at Higginson Powder. The other is try mysticplayer on here at cgn.

MARSTAR carries FRONTIER have not used them , maybe worth a look.

Question why 185gr. Kurt at BDX in alberta makes some great 230 gr FMJ with the maple lead stamped on them. Made in Canada, for Canadians. Good price and great bullets. Just a thought.

hehe whenever I see "hornady" I think CHACHING!!! $$$$

BDX, wolf, marstar, AIM projectiles.... I use lead cast bullets, so much cheaper and don't see any difference in performance. there is a little dust cloud that forms around you after a few mags :( great for outdoor use or a 1 time per week at the range use.

I'm new to reloading and have found everything locally except bullets.

I'm looking for .45 in either 200gr or 230gr and the only place I've easily discovered was Marstar and their frontier ones. Can you guys post links (or more names) to other sites that offer comparative pricing for bullets. I will be doing mostly target shooting for fun, so I'm looking for the cheapest solutions.

I'll eventually want to cast my own but I wanna take baby steps so I can learn to walk before I run

Hornady makes a 185 grain SWCFMJ. Your pistol needs to be set up to feed SWC's properly though. Sierra makes a plated 185. Neither will be cheap.
"...see "Hornady" I think..." That applies to any jacketed bullet. Cast 230 RN's or FP's are far less expensive to shoot regularly. 4.5 grains of Bullseye is scary accurate out of my Colt. Nice gentle target load.
"...found everything..." There used to be a guy who sold good cast bullets at TO area gun shows. Haven't lived in TO for 20 years so I don't know if he still does.

Look at THE BULLET BARN... excellent 45acp cast stuff. LOIS is excellent to deal with. Their 230 round nose is great.

if your in toronto your best bet is to deal directly with AIM, thats what i did, bought 4k off him this year, great bullets at a great price.

if you want straight lead DRG bullets is the cheapest around, cheaper then the bullet barn

I picked up 1000pcs of TC , 45 Match Full Copper Plated (FCP) 200 GR from Cam-Pro for my USP .45

What is the difference if I shot the 230 Gr bullet

I will check to see if they have 185's. Do you want 185's because you want to make a 'light recoil' load?
