I am about to start reloading the .45 ACP. I have been reloading for the past 35 years, but this is my first foray into .45 ACP reloading. What crimp should I be using on this cartridge, roll crimp or tapered crimp or is either one suitable? I would like to know so I can get my dies ordered.

Taper crimp only. 45 ACP headspaces on the case mouth. You simply want to iron out what little flare is left behind in the case mouth after bullet seating.

Taper crimp
It almost not a crimp and at max should be only .002 smaller in diameter than the rest of the case.

Most autoloader caliber dies have a taper crimp built into the seating die. It's just a case of setting it up correctly. No separate taper crimp die needed
