.45 ACP not good for a first handgun?

If you want a .22 pistol, come on over you can have mine. It just sits at the back of the safe collecting dust anyway. As for my .45...well you'll probably find that one throwing 230 gr. out at the range

Pistol course? Good heavens, no. But if you can come to the POCO range, I'll be glad to observe your technique and if necessary, make some suggestions.

I can help with basic handgun marksmanship. An hour, on average, should make one a decent target shooter and give a good foundation to build advanced skills.

If you want to progress to pistol games...that's another gig altogether best taught by experts.
 
I was always worried about getting a 9MM OR 45ACP. before buying a gun, I went to the range and tried several different calibers, to me shot placement was more important. Funny, I was more accurate with a 45 then 9mm. Always wanted a 45... bought a 45. Love it when things work out!

Buy what you enjoy, what feels comfortable. I would rather fire an expensive gun and enjoy myself, then buy a gun because ammo is cheap.

9mm guns are not always cheap ;)

as per the 45/9 debate... sounds good n all (not being sarcastic, i really want a 45 too) but with a difference of over 200 dollars per 1000 rounds, i would rather shoot all day then appreciate the awesomeness of a .45 for less than an hour.

hmm come to think of it, i do see these guys at the range just walking around and watching other people after shoot a few mags... while some of us are blasting away for the better part of a day. i guess they have fun too, watching us play with our puny 9s...

ps: of course this only applies to normal/working class people such as meself who can't afford to shoot $400+ in ammo every range trip :nest:
 
At the range you can always buy reloads, don't cost that much... I think the difference between a 9mm and 45 acp is like 10.00$

I usually buy in bulk, at the range, not much of a difference in price. I think 50$...but for me, I'm willing to pay for something I enjoy shooting. I may not be able to go as much as... or shoot as much as people with .22 or 9mm, but when I do go... I enjoy every single round.
 
go for it. my first handgun was a 44mag with a 4 inch barrel lmao. if i was shooting for #### i wouldn't of caught a whiff with that bad boy.
but if you can afford it, go for it. i've not met a 1911 i didn't like...unless it was in something other than .45acp.
 
i started with a 22 handgun...and its ok but nothing special. hardly shoot it much so I just ordered a 45 1911:) have a press already so just have to get the 45 components!
