i'm looking for some powder suggestion for the 45ACP. i'll be using 200gr lead. the powder i would like to try is N310,N320,N340.

thanks for the suggestion

I started out using W231. Currently using WST. I like the ball powder because the small charges meter better out of my Lee auto disk.

I shoot a Para P14-45 Limited.
5 inch barrel

200 grain lead round nose flat point bullet (wheel weight alloy, Lee Mold 90234)
5.7g W231 Average Velocity 817 fps
5.1g WST Average Velocity 827 fps
7.7g 800x Average Velocity 878 fps

Shooting Chrony Beta

I think WST is more accurate than W231, higher velocity with a smaller charge, and cheaper. Winchester says it's "Ideal for use in 45 Auto match applications", but they don't list it under pistol powders, its under shotgun.

"...would like to try..." You'll need a VihtaVuori manual for those powders. I think there's some on-line. There's a guy on The Highroad who claims he's getting "one hole" groups with 4.5 grains of N310 and 200 grain cast bullets.

+1for the WST or WSF powders, they are clean, meter well, cheap, and work as advertised. What more do you want from a powder?

I have used bullseye, unique, tight group, and who knows what else, keep coming back to the WST, WSF powders.

i'm using clays at the moment it's really smokie. i just wanted to see what other people are using. plus i heard that VV powder burn really clean

hornady lists power pistol, longshot, silhouette and A no 5 as max velocity.(1000)
vit n330 is listed at 900 fps 6.4 start 7.1 max

I have used 231, Titegroup, Power Pistol, N310 and 7625.

The most accurate groups were N310. If I was loading for serious bullseye, this would be the powder. Tight group is good in some of my 45s, not others. 231 and 7625 worked well in all of them. Power Pistol is real good for full power jackets bullets.

Based on experience to date, if I could only have one of the powders, it would be IMR7625 first choice, 231 second.

I would like to try N320 as a universal powder, but the cost is scary. I use about 40 pounds a year.
