.45 ACP - small or large pistol primer?

I currently load 9mm with a Lee 1000, and have just purchased a .45. I still have 4000 small pistol primers, and am wondering whether to go with cases that use small or large primers - pro/cons? Thanks.
 
Well they both work, and it is easier to have one size primer all the time, but if you like sorting brass lol, as i do LOL. I would go with the large ones,easier i feel, plus i was told once that you are always sure of a spark,
 
45 APC uses large for the most part there are some companys that use small primers in thier brass I belive winchester winclean is one of them.
 
it depends if youcan get a supply of that winclean stuff or not- or whatever- the actual change from small to large primer is just changing the primer pin and trough in the 1000- i think it was about 8 bucks last time i checked
 
More and more manufacturers are using small primers as they are required mainly for the low lead ammunition. WinClean and Speer both use spp's as does some of the Federal line. Easy to reload and no difference in performance. Only pain is when you have a mix of SPP and LPP. Sort them first or you will get quite a surprise..

Buy both - large and small primers; nothing worse than sorting through your range brass, then realizing you have LPP brass mixed with your Win Clean's. I just loaded 500 .45ACP, but only bought 200 large primers. Turned out I had 300 LPP brass.

It's not hard switching out the primer seater on a Lee 1000 (by my guess, I've done 5000 9mm, 2000 .45, 500 .223 with it); and it's quite annoying making another trip to the store to get more primers.
