.45 acp / SPP or LPP?

IIRC, the LPP was originally as a "safety" measure due to the incomplete ignition of the powder in the original .45ACP case by SPP of the time. Basically, it was more certain that there would be complete ignition with a LPP, so they went with it. Nowadays, of course, with the QC and tech being better, SPP can reliably ignite the charge just as well as LPP can (in the .45)

That being said, there isn't a difference nowadays and I personally prefer the SPP, as I'm too lazy to keep switching out the primer seater on my Dillon just for .45ACP. I only load that caliber with LPP now if I'm planning on loading other calibers that use LPP too; otherwise, I use my SPP brass.

During chrono testing, same load and the only difference was the brass - LP vs SP, no difference in velocity was noted.

Revolver shooters generally prefer SP brass over LP.

I don't care, I use SP for lost brass matches.

Thanks. I have a pile of both that I plan on using soon. My only concern was if I had to keep the loaded cartridges separate for shooting. ( diff velocities with same charge). But clearly I don't :)
