45 Adam's revolver

Sure Movies make intrest in certin guns more apealing. Who here
Who here can tell me the Movie this 1875 Remington was in.
I will give a hint it had one of the best gunfight endings and its a fairly recent Movie.

Note the fireing pin! thats a Repo gun with the Cylinder shaft pin thru frame removed to make it look more orignal!
the orignals have the old cone style fireing pin like the very early SAA Colts.

GrantR, I undertand that you are from the Medicine Hat area, is this where you are involved in the Cass and other types of shooting? I would really like to make a weekend trip down there to take in some of the action. I have a Colt SAA clone that is in 44 mag that I would like to add a second revolver and a Puma lever gun to, I have also gotten into some leather work and have started to make my own holsters, ( at least some simple designs to start with). I would like to join the Cass but I have no Idea who to contact or where to go. Any way i have really enjoyed your knowledge of the past and to be able to sit and have a history lesson from you would be very enjoyable.:)

I'm know that a visit to Grant (Rattlesnake Jack) et al, at 'the Hat', would be wonderful. (In fact we have modeled many of our ideas on their approach to CAS shooting). But who are 'we'. :wave:

We shoot regularly at Prince Albert and Candle Lake, sometimes at Nipawin. And, we also held a shoot with the Saskatoon Muzzle Loading Club at their range this summer and will be doing that again next year. http://www.smlc.ca/

There are definitely more CAS & SASS shooters, and shoots in AB, but we are working at catching up. :shotgun:

Hey Grant i will have to watch that Heston movie again i missed that Enfeild Revolver, mind you its been a coons age since i watched it.

Have you seen Silverado! in the start of that Movie when Kevin Cline is in his pink longjohns he Runs into a gun store to buy a cheep gun.

That gun he had to use all falling apart was a Webley Army Express in 45 colt.
Shows him loading it then killing a guy off a horse with realistic Recoil.

later John Clease (the British Sherif) uses a Big Enfeild MKII Revolver to shoot at the guys leaveing town in a hurry.
Ya have to watch Carefully but you can see its a Enfeild.
I like the fact the Director or someone thought to use them guns instead of the Colt SAA ALL the time.

Icebox, I had no idea that there was a chapter in Sask. esspecially that close to my area, I am in the Hague area. I will try to make it to Candle lake on the Oct. 5th date. GrantR, I also see that they are listing the last chance at Cactus Flatts. So We will see how that 1 works out as well.

Dog leg with a serial # of 7650 if yours is a MKI that # is in the Mounted Police book very nice one just sold at Haynes for $5000.00 If I'm reading the # right

The ones that were issued to the NWMP command a high premium you could get one that wasn't for $1500.00 and up depending on condition I've seen some very nice ones for $2000.00 .

Thanks for checking that out. It fits in with the family history of it being given to him by a retired Mountie. I suppose it wouldn't even have to be an issued gun for the story to be correct.
The number on the frame and cylinder is 7650. Ahead of the cylinder there is a CMP stamp in an oval. A collector once told that was significant, but either way it's still my grandfathers gun.

Looked again in the book it is definitely there The book is Arms& Accoutrements of the Mounted Police by Roger F. Phillips & Donald J. Klancher it is available from the Mounted Police Museum in Sask.
