That barrel could be better fitted in the top lugs, really shows the downward angle in the 'in battery' 1911 barrel though, doesn't it.

Yes, quite interesting indeed. Now that gun appears to be a "USGI" style gun, except for the flat MSH. Which I suppose could have been replaced at some point... I guess my thought is that this is either an old (possibly very worn) USGI 1911 or one of the newer USGI-style guns being currently sold, which tend to be sold at the bottom end of the price scale for 1911's and may not get the care and attention that a more expensive gun gets when it is assembled/built. Or maybe even a Norinco, maybe an old one. Who knows?...

I'd be curious to see the same x-ray with a modern mid-range 1911 like an STI or a Kimber and see if there are any differences.
