(Sorry if this has already been covered, I can't seem to find what I am looking for using the CGN search function or Google.)

I am looking for a .45 acp carbine, available in Canada, non-restricted, that uses 1911 mags, under $1000. Does such an animal exist?

The .45 Kel Tec Sub 2000 does not appear to be available with 1911 mags.
The JR Carbine US websites lists a .45 / 1911, but I can't find them in Canada.
The Kriss does not appear to use 1911 mags and is VERY $$$.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

You'll have better luck seeking Unicorn horns or rocking horse turds.....
A few, non-restricted barrel length, Marlin Camp Carbines are floating around, which are in .45ACP and utilize standard 1911 magazines.
Most of them, and I had one, were too short to make the non-restricted designation.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply foxbat.
That's too bad, so probably the only possibility would be to see if one of the vendors ever decides to bring in the JR Carbine in that configuration.

I have been trying to find out when the jr carbine in 45acp will be available in Canada in it looks like sooner than later. Epps says they will know more at shot show in late January.

This is my .45 "carbine" that uses 1911 mags.

The research I've done leads me to believe that a 16" barrel shooting .45 ACP is not a whole heck of a lot more powerful than a 4.5" barrel.

As far as accuracy goes this setup that I run can punch a group of touching holes at 20m.
I couldn't ask for more.

My thought on pistol calibre carbines is that their reason for being is accurate (at handgun distances) first, short form factor second and powerful third. If you wanted a powerful and accurate at long distance carbine it wouldn't be a pistol calibre.

Too bad it's restricted.

Keep checking with the registered JR dealers. They will have them soon enough. Best bang for the buck: AR parts fit it, non-restricted and a pleasure to shoot.

Regards,

Williams said they should have the jr that takes 45 mags close to xmas. That was about a month ago and may have changed but that's what they told me.
