I am in the process of applying for my ATC and would like to cook up some heavy duty bear bangers for my Blackhawk Bisley. What does everyone reccomend?

Thanks in advance
Simon

the heaviest, fastest bullet you can load safely and 1000 rounds of practice!

Throw in a win 94 chambered for the same round (I think there is one on the EE for 450!!!!)

bear load

I use 22grs W296 with RCBS 300 grains with GC (sized down to .452) they finish at 315grains with lube and GC.

In my BH 4 5/8 in. barrel it is a stout load...... If needed for real emergency, you won't feel recoil.

45 Colt (Ruger & T/C)[/B]
A load from the past, 1st edition Lyman Cast Handbook - Elmer Keith
- 10grs of Unique or 18.5grs of 2400 with 255gr cast, Lyman # 454424
A couple of jacketed loads
- From the Hornady manual, 250gr HP-XTP with 25.7grs H 4227
300gr XTP-MAG or HP-XTP with 21.7grs of WIN 296
- From the Speer manal, 260gr Mag-JHP with 18grs of 2400
300gr UCSP with 17.5grs of 2400

I am able to get 1450 fps with a 300 gr RNFP with a gas check (LEE mold) with a stout charge of H110. I will not divulge my powder charge because it is not a published load. Go to leverguns.com - there is a very good article on heavy .45 Colt - this should give you an idea what you can do.

Any flat point hardcast(of proper size) bullet of 250grs or more and pushed over 1200fps will do anything you need doin', the 2 most common and effective, lowcost, are the Lyman 255 and RCBS 255gr Semi-wadcutters, these are avail. at good prices from MT Chambers among others, watch out for machine cast bullets that have a bevel base and minimal grease grooves as they are not the same!

What Gunslinger said. I use 23grs with H110 and CPBC's 325 gr plain base WLN's. They shoot wonderfully in this Bisely.
