.45 Colt Bullets in .45 ACP?

Are there any issues (other than altering the powder charge) with using 255 grain .45 Colt (.452) bullets in .45 ACP brass? I've come upon a few and am wondering whether to use them as-is or melt them down.

.452 cast bullets may or may not stretch your brass to the point that it won't chamber in your particular pistol. I size mine down to .451 to solve this problem.

But as a gunnut I recommend that you buy a .45 Colt to get proper use from them.

It will likely work and might actually give better accuracy than 0.451" bullets. If they will chamber, and the profile is right to feed properly, you can use them with the same charge. Load one up in sized, empty, unprimed brass and measure the neck diameter, then compare to the diameter of brass fired in your gun. If the fired brass is two or more thou larger, then see how it chambers and extracts. I use 0.454" cast bullets in my 45 Colt.

I have used 0.452" 255 gr SWC bullets in my 45 ACP and they worked fine, I had a few lying around and figured I might as well try them. I also size my 45 ACP bullets to 0.452 and have never had a problem in my three 45's.

It sound like a good experiment, I would resize them down to .452 relube them and powder charge accordingly.
