I just traded for a Rossi 92 in 454 casull and was wondering if any one has some wisdom to as if I can run 45 colt out of the 454 rifle chamber. I know the casull parent case is the 45 colt and I found that there are guys running them out of pistols but just curious if it would be the same program out of the carbine.

Possible feeding issues like some .357 rifles experience with .38 but that will depend mostly on bullet profile. I sold a .454 Rossi years ago, one of my many regrets.

If folks run a bunch of .45 Colt cast loads through their Casull guns, it's wise to clean the chamber well to remove any lead fouling left by the shorter Colt cases before shooting any full power jacketed .454 stuff. Pressure spikes can occur which can & have damaged 454 revolvers. Not sure if any Rossi's met this fate, but for my 454, I just used 454 brass and loaded down to Colt levels.

Brass for 454 is built much stronger in the web & case wall and uses small rifle primers.

I have one in stainless with a 20" barrel I shoot from 200gr light cast 45 Colt to 405gr WFNGC 454 Casull in it all feed - function - fire perfectly in this little cannon...

I have both the 45 and 454. For cowboy I would use the 45. I think it chambers the shorter cartridge better. You can load some very stout loads in the 45. The 454 can make you say ouch :).
