45 colt Ruger BH looking for powder choice with heavy cast bullets?

I have some Keith? style 330 grain cast boolits here, and not really any data. I usually shoot 250 grain bullets, and have a lot of data for those, which obviously doesn't help here. I've only tried loads with W-296, but want something a little milder. I have 2400, lil gun, unique, herco, 4227, blue dot kicking around. Any suggestions for warmer than standard, but below top end? Thanks.

hodgdon's site has 325gr and 335gr bullets for the 45 colt (high pressure) load info.

from my experience with the 500 mag h110 and lilgun provide the most felt recoil, but 4227 and 2400 where moderate recoil. i recently tried some accurate 1680 and it's amazing, i had clean cases and the recoil is very manageable but still let's you know it's a magnum round.

Suggestions as to how many grains of 2400 with a 330 grain cast bullet?

I like SR-4759 and IMR4198. In a strong gun like yours, you can go up to a full cartridge load.

I burned up all my 4198 with other cartridges, and isn't it a bit slow for 45 Colt?

It's "a bit slow" for max velocity, but not for potentially very good accuracy at modest pressures.

Herco & BlueDot are worth exploring. I think you should also look at Unique and HS6. All 4 use low volumes of powder compared to rifle powder and I believe that you can achieve your desired load with them...
