I see these in the States. Rhineland makes kits to convert Enfield rifles to .45acp. Anyone in Canada ever done this or are the kits/parts available?
Plain barrel or fake suppresser.

Pretty cool

not that I know of but I have the same interest! How hard is it pull that barrel out?

From what I read, it's nearly impossible to remove the barrel from an Enfield action. Pretty much cold welded in place.
One story I read said he ended up buying a new receiver to get around the issue.
I'd love to have a .45 rifle.

Not if you have the Enfield armourers barrel wrench :D

Enfield barrel

If you don't have to save the take off barrel, you can turn down the barrel shoulder where it meets the receiver, to relieve some of the pressure. That and a soak in penetrating oil, has worked for me several times.

Sorry to be a snob but this is simply a 45 caliber Enfield:p

This is a DeLisle style conversion;)

The barrels on the No1's are usually pretty easy to remove with the proper action wrench, barrel vice and a dead-blow hammer. It's the No4 action that can be a bugger sometimes but you run the risk of crushing or twisting the receiver, turning it into a paperweight, if you use the wrong tools.

Yeah, that bottom one is a beauty. They sell versions with fake suppressors too, obviously we're not allowed the original functional style.

I have a Lithgow No 1 Mk 3 with a bad (dark) bore. It's otherwise such a beautiful rifle...I'd like to do something with it. It has a hole drilled in through the bottom of the barrel and a drill rod mig welded in across the chamber,( I wanted a legal wall hanger) which may or may not mean the receiver is #####ed. If the weld were removed and barrel removed, it might be fine. You can buy the insert that uses .45 mags in the opening for an Enfield mag from Rhineland. There are full instructions to be found online, including how to modify the extractor for .45acp cases.

Who in Southern Ontario with the right armourers tools, milling machine etc. can do all of this reasonably? Have car will travel...

Here's the link to the kit...you hit Enfield conversion.

There have been at least 2 articles at surplusrifle.com on doing this. I have read both and it doesnt sound too hard as long as the person doing the conversion is a competent gunsmith.

I just need to find a source for the kit here in Canada, any suggestions?

I did not buy this one I built it.

If only the barrel was touched then it should come right off.

Where did you get the mag adapter, or did you fab it yourself? .45 barrel?

How much to do another? You've got it right...looks great.

All parts were fabricated by me and I have parts sets ready to make some more as soon as I can get a reliable source for barrels.

Hmmm I have access to a few Bubba Enfilds that might fit the bill for such a project. :D

Now when one modifies a Firearm like this do they need to get it re verified etc?

Also does one get to rename the model type?
