cantom said:From what I read, it's nearly impossible to remove the barrel from an Enfield action. Pretty much cold welded in place.
One story I read said he ended up buying a new receiver to get around the issue.
I'd love to have a .45 rifle.

The barrels on the No1's are usually pretty easy to remove with the proper action wrench, barrel vice and a dead-blow hammer. It's the No4 action that can be a bugger sometimes but you run the risk of crushing or twisting the receiver, turning it into a paperweight, if you use the wrong tools.
I did not buy this one I built it.cantom said:Yeah, that bottom one is a beauty. They sell versions with fake suppressors too, obviously we're not allowed the original functional style.
If only the barrel was touched then it should come right off.I have a Lithgow No 1 Mk 3 with a bad (dark) bore. It's otherwise such a beautiful rifle...I'd like to do something with it. It has a hole drilled in through the bottom of the barrel and a drill rod mig welded in across the chamber. If the weld were removed and barrel removed, it might be fine.

How much to do another? You've got it right...looks great.
