45 Gap

i don't understand the point for such a thing.

similar balistics, same size bullet, slightly shallower grip, ON SOME guns.

seems absurd to me..

but..whatev, guns are good, so enjoy.

I just find it wierd

Personally, I'd love to have a para or springfield in GAP that has the smaller grip frame sized to the round. The difference is nearly .125 of an inch, which is huge in feel. I'd probably be able to hit the mag release without rotating the gun in my hand......:D

Ooooo, I hate to be the one to point out that " the emperor has no clothes" but
I will bet money that 45GAP will go the way of the .357Sig round....
Too few manufacturers will support it with models and it will quietly fizzle out.
I owned a Taurus 24/7 in 45 ACP, and somehow, they managed to package the gun in a double stack unit that will fit the smallest grip...Problem solved!

Well, if the .45 GAP is built on the G22 size frame on the Glock couldn't one acquire barrels in .40 S&W and .357 Sig and have a tri-caliber gun? Maybe add a pussy 9mm barrel and make it a 'quad'.... :p

Personally, I wouldn't give a pinch of dog dudu for anything in a Taurus except maybe their new 1911... ;)

The breech face of a G22 slide could accomodate .357 SiG since the case head dimensions are the same. Not true for .45 or 9mm......

Dragoon, that is funny. Why? Using different barrels I shoot 40 S&W, 357 Sig (the dying round?) and 9mms out my Glock 27. The 40 S&W/357 Sig have always worked well but I had to buy 9mm magazines to get the 9mm to function properly. Regards, Richard:D

I use RCBS dies for all my GAP reloading, they are marked "3-DIECARB TC SET .45ACP/AR/GAP", part number 18915.

They have loaded a few thousand rounds of .45GAP without problems. Yes the same dies can load either .45ACP or the GAP, just turn them down a bit more for the shorter GAP cases.

Been doing all my .45ACP loading on a set of Lee carbide dies for eons... nice to know they can also handle the .45 GAP with minor adjustments. 'Course I've also used the same .45ACP dies to successfully reload .455 ammo, too.

And on that... picking up the set of NIB Lee carbide dies specifically marked for .45 GAP just may have been redundant....

I'm really surprised the 9mm would function in your firearm since the case head dimensions are not the same (.424", 40 S&W and .392" in 9mmP). That's 0.032" or if you prefer 0.016" on the diameter diff. I would think the cartridge would "float" in the receiver head where the firing pin strikes the cartridge. Of course, maybe it still functions but what about extraction and ejection ?..Not doubting your affirmations, just curious to see if I could do the same with a 9mm barrel and mag for my "Norc/CZ imitation.

Thanks for your reply.
