45 JHP - something other than Hornady?

And you want JHP why? We're shooting at paper or steel. Neither cares if there's a divot in the nose of the bullet. Save yourself a lot of cost and headache and buy regular round nose ammo and your feeding issues will vanish.

Shoot jacketed ammo gets expensive really fast. However, try a different bullet weight.
Your local gun shop can order anything you want. Remington makes several JHP's. As does Winchester and Federal.

Fiocchi makes a nice 230 gr JHP.

My box stock Norinco compact [commander] eats it up like no body's business.

I picked up Remmy 230 grain HP's from WSS. I haven't heard great reports on them, and I haven't fired them myself. I really like Winchester White Box 230 grain HP's. I saw them at WSS too, but were a few bucks more per box than the Remmy's.

couple of bucks a pop if memory serves. I believe the OP is having feeding issues with Hornady HP's. Although the Great JMB never intended his benevolent gift to use JHP's :), I'm certain the Gold Dots will feed without an issue...but as I said, they're not intended to punch paper (@ $2 a round).

So has it be determine why the OP needs Hollow points instead of standard round ball the 45 was designed for?

I won't speak for the OP, but I have a box just cause they're kewl...I'm actually on the hunt for some R.I.P. ammo in either .44 mag, .357 mag, .45 acp or 9mm for the same reason. Most of us just kind of collect semi-obscure ammo when it becomes available, nothing nefarious.

The OP says the Hornady doesn't feed in his compact...wouldn't you want ammo on your shelf that you know feeds? Or in his case doesn't? Makes perfect sense to me, no mystery there.
