Typical of this kind of thread, proponents of the cheapskate reasons for reloading are selective in their pricing, to put it politely.
Components at
some claimed prices are pretty hard to find and Wolf Re manufactured Ammo lists 45ACP LSWC for about 25 cents apiece. This makes a fairer comparison than the shiny new Corbons some apparently like to compare to the cost of reloading.
Without getting way into the nitty gritty of these biased amateur cost comparisons, what you are in fact
going to find out is that you don't save money reloading relatively common calibers. With the few pennies per round it initially looks like you'll save you won't even manage to keep abreast of the wear and tear on the s**t you're gonna buy in order to reload, never mind justifying the initial investment.
Now, if what you want is a cartridge that performs like you want it to, burns cleanly and with your choice of bullet, you've got to reload and thats the reason it makes sense to do it. Reloading is interesting and enjoyable in its own right too, and this is why you should do it, not because you followed the advice of someone who mines their own lead and inherited half a 45 gallon drum of powder that granddad bought in the 50's.
