I was shooting today with my Norinco 1911 and after 20 rounds the slide release opened out . Is this common ? It was cleaned before use , and went back together then after another 20 it came out again but I am curious as to why. Is there something starting to wear ?

Any help appreciated.

Terry

Since the only way that should come out is if the take down notch is aligned properly, check the release for damage.
Pics of the release / slide may help...

I assume the "slide release" you describe is actually the part properly known as the " slide stop" and it "fell out of the frame?" Will it hold the slide locked back? Will the slide lock back when the last round is fired from the mag? With the slide stop properly and fully installed - does the rounded end of the shaft protrude about 3/16" beyond the right side of the frame - if it doesn't - the shaft of the slide stop is broken.
Also check to assure the "plunger tube assembly" is complete in the plunger tube. If it isn't, that would enable the slide stop to fall out AND not hold the thumb safety secure in either the "safety on" or "safety off" positions.
It's not likely something is "worn" as much as either the slide stop is broken OR in the process of cleaning the gun, the plunger tube assembly fell out of the plunger tube and was not replaced in the re-assembly of the cleaned gun.

If I'm reading this right I have a question for you: when you're shooting (and pause), do you flag your right index finger along the frame. Or one-better are you a lefty and letting you weak hand thumb flag against the frame.
Why... In both cases they would rest against the protruding "bump" of the takedown pin/release; and with the action of cycling naturally help ease pin out.

Or I'm completely off base and am prepared for a retort.
