45 Super

I am thinking of getting into loading/shooting 45s and would like to hear from others who do the same.

There was a thread about this not too long ago but I can't seem to find it.

Mostly interested in spring weights (Glock21) and where to procure brass.

I tried 45 Super some years ago. I bought the brass from Starline. It is the same dimensions as .45ACP except that the brass is thicker at the web to withstand higher pressures. Especially on an unramped barrel . Then by adding a 22 or 24 pound recoil spring and a heavy duty firing pin spring, the gun will handle 45 Super.
Gunnar used to make brass from cut down & reamed .308 cases.

The 45 Super is a fairly inexpensive way to beef up a .45ACP gun but I had fears of getting the rounds mixed up & going into a gun not set up to handle the extra pressure so I gave up & went to a .400 CorBon.

I am not worried about mixing as this is my only 45"shorty". Won't mix up with my 45colt loads.

IIRC curtmg has worked on 45super alot in the last year, you could PM him
