.45 to .40?

I love my 1911 in .45, and I also shoot/load .40S&W in a NP-40. Now, I haven't really been paying attention, but is there a wildcat pistol round that involves necking down the 45ACP case down to .40?
Yes, I know about the .41AE round, but the 41-cal was pretty much a no-go, where the .40 is hot stuff now.
I envisage a drop-in replacement barrel and a lovely accurate soft-spoken pistol with features I can use.

.400 corbon, is what you're talking about (45 case necked to 40). Theoretically just needs a new barrel, but I've heard of feeding and magazine issues, plus reloading a bottle neck case has it's own issues. But it'd be a pretty cool round, I debated going that way in my Glock21sf.

The .41AE isn't a necked down anything. 9mm case head diameter on a .434" case body. No brass, barrels nor anything else, other than dies, available anyway. Won't work in a .45 1911 either.
The .400 Corbon looks like a .357 Sig on steriods. Pricey stuff, Stateside. Runs $31.49US per 20 at Midway. Haven't a clue if you can get it here.
