Any one ever used one of these?

Is this thing built on a standard 1911 frame?

I am guessing its a load your own round to not commercially available?

It was commercially loaded by Winchester, I don't know if it still is. The Grizzly is a modified 1911. I believe that Wildey chambered for it as well, and I played with an M1 carbine that had been modified for the round one time. I have a Ruger Blackhawk convertible 45 with one cylinder in 45 Win Mag. It's a fun round, pushes 300 gr bullets out handily. - dan

I'm pretty sure the LAR Grizzly is not a modified 1911 but rather a gun heavily based on the 1911 platform (yes, I'm being a very anal person very early in the morning, sorry Dan B).

The gun you posted is one of the not so common Long (very long) slides. There is or was a LAR Griz available for sale in Canada from a dealer IIRC.

The 45 Win Mag comes pretty close to comparable 44 S&W Mag velocity and energy. It never did find much favour and that's a same heard it's a hoot to shoot!

The 460 Roland is a similar round. Gets gets the same results but with case similar to 45ACP and running greater pressure.

Is the gun you posted yours or just a pic you found floating around?

As a side not, I've heard the LAR Griz was a very nice gun. Pretty much a high end custom that was fitted very well.
