I went down a slightly different path. I have a Marlin 450GG and had bought a 450MR about 20 years back when they first came out. Iāve always liked the WSMās and the RUMās also so somewhere between the two and the MR I came up with a wild idea!
Use the RUM case as the WSMās would be too short and cut it down to 2.10ā and neck it down to .458. Made a few dummies by utilizing numerous sized dies I had, sent a couple off to Manson for a reamer and sent that blueprint off to Hornady for dies and case forming die. Few modifications to the receiver, opening the ejection port and loading gate.
But limited to full potential/bullets being a lever action, so next mind twist was to do it in a bolt action. Purchased a Win 70 SS in .270wsm and bought a SS 70 .375 h&h barrel to get re-bored, and with life and work that is where it still sitsā¦
