.450 marlin

Another vote for the Marlin, but in 45/70 not .450 Marlin, the only option other than 45/70 that makes sense to me is the .450 Alaskan.

Browning. Stronger action, on par with a bolt. Clip magazine allows pointed bullets. Both are too light for that caliber, IMHO, and could use an extra half pound or so of weight.

Would take either one in a heartbeat though.

Browning - you can use more aerodynamic bullets and I just like the smoothness of the blr.

If they are properly made for the 45/70 their crimping groove will be in the right place.......and it will allow you to put in enough RL-7,AA-2015, or H-335 to give you headaches at the gun range.

I like the Speer 350 grain semi spitzer but it's cannular is too far back to crimp into and run through the Marlin action. There are many other bullets with the same problem. I am hoping the BLR is long enough but I don't know for sure.
