450 Marlin

i've got a 450 marlin, the only reason i chose it was because the model 94 only came in 450 marlin.
Hornady 45/70 leverolution ammo costs about the same as the 450.
happy with the 450, but would probably be just as happy with the 45/70

Ok Here it is. Now correct me if I'm wrong because I think I said it before. If you are to purchase factory ammo. Like the New Leverevolutionammo then you might be inclined to get the 450 Marlin because as for factory loads it is hotter then the same grain factory 45/70 load. Infact they reduced the 45/70 load even more. So it can function in older rifles. Thats the rumor but it makes sense. The 450 Marlin is very new and has no history of chamberings in older guns so light em up so to speak.
If you handload the heavy flat bullets then 45/70 and the 450 are on the same playing field.

I did not see Hornady offering the leverevolution bullet in either calibers for handloaders. Until it is available I do see the advantage of the 450 over the 45/70 ballistic wise that is.

jesus christ, just when I think there is a shortage of retards on CGN

45/70...450 marlin - Same ####, unless you're an idiot and shoot ammo made for you by some factory

Ok then. Short and to the point about how they are the same. True enough. But not everyone reloads. Some people cannot be bothered. I reload so I could give a crap which caliber I have. I have a buddy that would prefer the 450 due to the higher ballistics of the factory 450. I'll make sure I tell him he is an idiot.:p Joking side. Factory ammo for non reloaders are the only reasion the 450 still exists.

it walks all over the 45-70 no comparison at all not even the same thing the 45-70 is a kids gun sure the 450 marlin isn't like a 600 nitro but its an insult to even be considered the same thing and most people have to reload for it cause its just to expensive not to

I haven't had a warning in a while. Sorry mods!

YOUR STUPID!

I'm no big fan of the .450 Marlin, I much prefer the 45/70, however I think the only case for the .450 Marlin (other then the factory ammo thing) is if you absolutely have to have a Browning BLR which are chambered for the .450.
