bought some stuff at a gun auction. There were were lots of bullets that I will use for my .45acp. that being said there is one box of .45 cal hornady 240gr xtp/mag ,452 diameter. my knowledge sez that .451 is what is used for the .45acp. Can anyone tell me if they are safe to use in the .45acp??

I would say you got it right, I use .452 in cast, .451 jacket in the 45 ACP (230 gr)
