.454 casull in a Lever gun (graphic images within)

Can you tell us about the rifle?
Ordered up from the US I assume?

I loved the gunblast article a few years back...

How much? If you do not mind...

I ordered it from Big Horn Armory in the states. It took the better part of two years to get to me. It's an amazingly beautiful rifle. The fit and finish are perfect. I love the sights but ended up putting a scout scope on it. Mostly because I want to be able to shoot out to 100 yds with it and the front sight pretty much covers a whole 5 inch square at that distance o no real accuracy using the irons. After the Leupold scout scope i had it out today and it pretty much puts three rounds in one hole at 50 yds. I didn't shoot out to 100yds with it as I ran out of time. You know how it is shoot the bow a bunch20,30,40,50 yds then set the girl up with the .22 and a little bouncing target, then sight the scope in and finally put a few good rounds in at 50 before I lost the light.
I will post some photos of it with the scope.
I think after all was said and done it was pretty much $3000.00 to my door. I had Prophet River do the import.
All in all I really like it. The action is still a bit stiff but I'm used to shooting a marlin that's had thousands and thousands of .45colts through it.

Thanks for the report.
I bet the trigger is real good.
And that the action will smooth up with use.

Some time ago I saw a .454 Casull lever gun for sale here, and bought it. Then I decided I needed a companion revolver, and got a Ruger Super Red Hawk. Then I actually SHOT the lever gun and was fairly impressed with the stoutness of the bark and smack to the head. So I was not in a hurry to shoot full-house loads out of the revolver..........

But the Redhawk is a nice heavy handgun and does just fine. I do not shoot it single-handed, however.

VERY interesting thread. I have only rarely shot any steel targets, and always thought it would be a fun thing to do. Of course, our range authorities might frown on somebody putting a steel danforth anchor affair out on the fifty yard berm..............:p

Thanks for the report!

Doug
