So getting into reloading this beast, already doing the 500sw so just like to know what you guys are using for projectiles and favorite recipe using H110 or maybe some other powder? I have a bunch of .45lc 250gr campro projectiles.

Also some books say small rifle magnum primer orhers just small rifle primers. I know my 500 absolutely needs large magnum rifle for H110.
Thanks

I load them past even 45 colt +P for my Toklat but the Casull will deform them badly and you could end up splitting your forcing cone or worse. They are not suitable. Even true jacketed bullets are not recommended for full pressure .454. That is why Hornady makes a "mag" bullet and companies like Sierra and SPEER do not advise using their bullets in full pressure loads.

Buy (very) hard cast gas checked bullets, XTP Mags or try finding some Freedom Arms bullets. If you are a big spender there is also the Barnes 325 Buster.

Regarding your primer question, I don't use anything but a Rem 7.5 for the Casull. It's the hottest SR primer out there and it brings down the SD quite significantly of every load I have chronographed.

I load them over 28.5grns of H-110 in a .45C case for 1450fps from my guns 5" barrel. It's stout, accurate and tons of fun. Could go higher but I have never bothered.

I use the hornady . XTP mag as well 300 gr . Under H110 cant rember the exact amount of powder away from home right now so can't look at my notes. I use CCI mag primers mainly because they trays are easy to use . Havent tried differnt primes the CCI have been working. Might have to try the REM 7.5 . I shoot out of my .460 revolver and ruger #1 .

I use the 7.5 for H110 .357 loads as well. On top of lower SD the velocity is significantly higher. On par with boutique loads found in the US.
