was just wondering if anyone out there has any recipes or starting loads for loading the 265 grain hollowbase roundnose in the .455 long or short case, with Titegroup. Seyfreid claims a 6 inch group at 100 yards using Titegroup in a triplelock smith. Handloader issue #215. Thanks in advance.....

Most people here don't use titegroup for that calibre, I use Unique, will have to look at the recipe. the amount you would use in titegroup might be so small that you might have burn issues.

I haven't shot mine much yet, just enough to make sure it would go bang shortly after I acquired it. Mine is a Mk. VI.

The bullet I'm using is one I get from a friend locally and sounds very similar to what you've indicated you're using. Mine weighs 260gr and looks very much like the one I've circled. I've used Unique mainly but I'm also trying out Trail Boss.

Some of the load info I've based my reloads on is from the 1st Edition of the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook.

Oh I traditionally used Unique, but jeez, it is a dirty powder. Hodgdon website lists starting loads with 4.5 Titegroup in the Schofield round, but as that is a longer case, I am reluctant to use that as even a starting load unless someone has prior experience,,,, Seyfreid , in the Handloader article, claims 3.9 grains Titegroup with a 270 grain bullet lubed with SPG to shoot a six inch group at 100 yard, Now while I am not Ross Seyfreid, I would like to get a decent load without using Unique cause I find it to be a really filthy powder in the shorter cases. Ross did find Titegroup to be much cleaner burning. Cheers
